Home Extensions
We design and build extensions that blend seamlessly with your existing property, creating practical and stylish new living areas that enhance your home’s value.
Explore Our Home ExtensionsColeorton sits between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Coalville, with its own parish council. Measom Building Services Ltd has covered this part of North West Leicestershire since 1998.
The parish is spread out, with older properties, farm conversions and newer housing all represented. Plots tend to be generous, which usually means the design is limited by what the council will accept rather than by space.
We are accredited by the Federation of Master Builders and based in Woodville, a short drive away. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and recommendations.
The full range is available in Coleorton and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Coleorton is in the North West Leicestershire district, so planning applications and building control go to North West Leicestershire District Council. Coleorton Parish Council is consulted on applications in the parish without deciding them.
Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development and need no application. Building regulations approval is separate and covers almost all structural work regardless. We handle both with you and work alongside Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
Coleorton Hall is on the district's conservation area list, which covers part of the parish rather than all of it. The council publishes an appraisal, and it is worth confirming whether your particular property falls inside before finalising a design.
North West Leicestershire District Council. Coleorton Parish Council is consulted on applications in the parish. The district council makes the decision.
Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
