Home Extensions
We design and build extensions that blend seamlessly with your existing property, creating practical and stylish new living areas that enhance your home’s value.
Explore Our Home ExtensionsRavenstone, which shares a parish with Snibston, sits just west of Coalville. It is comfortably inside the area Measom Building Services Ltd has covered since 1998.
It is a village with a genuine historic core and newer housing around it, so what is achievable varies by street. Older properties in particular tend to need investigating before any large extension goes on.
We are accredited by the Federation of Master Builders and based a short drive away in Woodville. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and recommendations.
The full range is available in Ravenstone and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Ravenstone falls within the North West Leicestershire district, so North West Leicestershire District Council handles planning applications and building control. Ravenstone with Snibston Parish Council is consulted on applications without deciding them.
Plenty of single storey extensions fall under permitted development. Building regulations approval is separate and needed for almost all structural work regardless. We handle both alongside you and work with Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
It may well be. Ravenstone is one of the 28 conservation areas in the district and the council publishes an appraisal for it. Conservation area status does not stop you extending, but it does affect materials, window styles and what is likely to be approved, so confirm it early.

Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
