Is Heather in a conservation area?
No. Heather is not among the district's 28 conservation areas, so those restrictions do not apply. Individual properties can still be listed, which is worth confirming with the council for your specific address.
Do rural properties need anything extra?
Sometimes. Private drainage and septic tanks, access for deliveries down narrow lanes, and variable ground conditions all come up more often in the villages than in the towns. None of it is unusual, but it is far better identified before work starts than after.
Who decides planning applications in Heather?
North West Leicestershire District Council. Heather Parish Council is consulted on applications in the village. The district council makes the decision.
Do I need planning permission for an extension in Heather?
