Explore Our Home ExtensionsMeasham sits in the south west of the district, close to the Derbyshire border and to our own base. Measom Building Services Ltd has been building across North West Leicestershire since 1998.
The village has a substantial historic core along the High Street, with newer housing spreading out from it. What is practical differs a good deal between the two, which is why we look at the property before quoting.
We are accredited by the Federation of Master Builders and based in Woodville, only a few miles away — close enough to visit before you commit and to keep the site properly supervised once work starts.
The full range is available in Measham and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Measham is in the North West Leicestershire district, so planning applications and building control go to North West Leicestershire District Council. Measham Parish Council is consulted on applications affecting the village without deciding them.
Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development and need no application. Building regulations approval is separate and required for almost all structural work. We handle both with you and work alongside Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
Quite possibly, if it is in or near the older centre. Measham is one of the 28 conservation areas in the district and the council publishes an appraisal for it. Conservation area status shapes materials and detailing rather than preventing you extending.

Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
