Home Extensions
We design and build extensions that blend seamlessly with your existing property, creating practical and stylish new living areas that enhance your home’s value.
Explore Our Home ExtensionsSnarestone is a small village in the south of the district, at the end of the restored stretch of the Ashby Canal. Measom Building Services Ltd covers it as part of the North West Leicestershire area we have worked since 1998.
Small villages usually mean older properties, generous plots and access that needs a little thought before deliveries arrive. We check all of it at the consultation rather than discovering it on day one.
We are based in Woodville and accredited by the Federation of Master Builders. The same team runs the project from the first visit to the final finish.
The full range is available in Snarestone and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Snarestone falls within the North West Leicestershire district, so planning applications and building control are handled by North West Leicestershire District Council. Snarestone Parish Council is consulted on applications in the village.
Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development. Building regulations approval is a separate requirement covering almost all structural work. We deal with both alongside you and work with Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
Very possibly. Snarestone has its own conservation area, and the separate Ashby Canal conservation area extends to the village. Both are among the 28 in the district and the council publishes appraisals for each. Check which, if either, covers your property before settling a design.

Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
