Normanton le Heath is a small village and civil parish sitting between Packington, Ravenstone and Heather, about a mile and a half north west of Ibstock. It is well inside the area Measom Building Services Ltd has covered since 1998.
It is a genuinely rural spot, and rural work brings its own practicalities — private drainage, deliveries down narrow lanes and variable ground conditions. None of it is unusual; all of it is better established before work starts.
We are based in Woodville and accredited by the Federation of Master Builders. Every project is run by the same team from first consultation to final finish.
The full range is available in Normanton le Heath and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Normanton le Heath is in the North West Leicestershire district, so planning applications and building control for homes in the village go to North West Leicestershire District Council rather than to the county council.
Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development and need no application. Building regulations approval is separate and required for almost all structural work. We handle both with you and deal with Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
No. It is not among the 28 conservation areas in the North West Leicestershire district. Individual properties may still be listed, which is worth confirming with the council for your address.
Yes. A good share of our work is in the villages rather than the towns. The practical differences are access, drainage and ground conditions rather than anything about the build itself, and we check all three at the free consultation.
North West Leicestershire District Council. Local parish arrangements mean the village is consulted on applications. The district council makes the decision.
Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
