Home Extensions
We design and build extensions that blend seamlessly with your existing property, creating practical and stylish new living areas that enhance your home’s value.
Explore Our Home ExtensionsLong Whatton shares a parish with Diseworth in the north east of the district. Measom Building Services Ltd covers it as part of the area we have worked since 1998.
It is a village with a well-preserved older core, so extensions frequently involve matching existing brick and working with construction that predates modern foundations. That is straightforward when it is established early.
We are accredited by the Federation of Master Builders and based in Woodville. Every project is managed by the same team from the first consultation to the final finish.
The full range is available in Long Whatton and the villages around it. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation.

Long Whatton is in the North West Leicestershire district, so planning applications and building control go to North West Leicestershire District Council. Long Whatton and Diseworth Parish Council is consulted on applications in the parish.
Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development and need no application. Building regulations approval is separate and required for almost all structural work. We handle both alongside you and work with Building Control at each inspection stage.

FAQs
A good part of the village is. Long Whatton has its own conservation area and neighbouring Diseworth has another, both among the 28 in the district, each with a published appraisal. Worth confirming which covers your property before you finalise a design.

Not always. It turns on the size, height and position of the extension and on whether the property is listed or in a conservation area. Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development. We will tell you what we think applies at the free consultation, before you spend anything on drawings.
Almost always, yes. The two are separate. Planning is about whether the work suits its surroundings; building regulations are about how it is built — structure, insulation, fire safety, drainage and ventilation. Most structural work needs approval even under permitted development.
There is no honest single figure and we would rather not quote one. Cost turns on the size and shape of the extension, ground conditions and foundations, how much glazing you want, the finishes and whether drainage needs moving. We give a written quotation after a free consultation at the property.
If you are building on or near a shared boundary, or excavating close to a neighbouring property, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may require you to serve notice. That is separate from planning permission. We will flag it if we think it applies, so it is handled early rather than becoming a dispute mid-build.
Get in touch and we will arrange a free consultation at the property. We will talk through what you want to achieve, look at what is practical and give honest guidance on cost and timescales before you commit to anything.
